The main elements of photography
In the world of photography there are elements that are the main factors in photography itself, namely light source, object / subject, reflected light object / subject and camera.
1. Light Source
Photography which means painting with light, means that the most important element here is light. In photography this light comes from natural light (the sun) and artificial light (flashes, lights, candles, torches, campfires, flashlights etc.).
There are five directions of light used in photography, namely front light, back light, top light, bottom / base light and side light. The five directions of the light. Has an influence on the object / subject that is the target of the photo shoot. Each lighting has its own function and aesthetic.
a. Front Light (Front Light) This lighting produces a relatively photo effect without a shadow, thereby reducing the texture of the object / object in the photo and the object / object in the photo looks flat.
b. Back Light back lighting (back light) will produce a silhouette effect or an object surrounded by a rim light that is the light around the object.
c. Top Light Top light provides a dramatic effect, the object is not quite separate from the background and there are only small shadows
d. Bottom / Base Light is usually used as fill light to reduce the contrast of the main lighting.
e. Side Light This lighting produces the effect of accentuating the shape and surface of a photographic object, with camping lighting creating a three-dimensional impression and the photo object being separated from the background.
2. Object / Subject
Object / Subject, is an object that receives light from a light source. Objects are more likely to be inanimate objects or an activity, whereas subjects are more to living objects. The more light received by the object / subject, the more clearly the object is seen or vice versa.
3. The reflected light of the object / subject
The subject / object is illuminated by light from a light source, which is actually captured by the human eye or the camera is the light reflected by the subject / object so as to form a picture / painting of the subject / object.
The camera is a device used to capture light reflected by a subject / object, then store it in a storage medium. This camera has a lens that serves to capture light, a diaphragm that functions to regulate the size of incoming light, shutter speed that regulates the speed of incoming light or slow, sensors that capture and change the form of light into digital data, processors to process digital data, storage cards (memory card) which functions to store digital data.
